Brian C. Baker, CFA

An investment professional for nearly two decades, Brian earned his bachelor’s degree from UC California at Berkeley in 1987 and later was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA). He began his investment career as a registered representative of Bidwell & Co. Prior to co-founding Baker Ellis, he conducted proprietary trading and market-making operations for Wilson Davis and Co. He lives in Portland with his wife, Lisa, and their two young children. He is a member of the Portland Society of Financial Analysts.

Barnes C. Ellis
Barnes co-founded Baker Ellis after serving as a portfolio manager at Sutro & Co in Portland. Earlier, he was marketing director and vice president for Charter Investment Group. Barnes earned a bachelor’s degree cum laude in 1987 from Harvard University, where he also was named a John Harvard Scholar. Before entering the investment industry, he honed his investigative skills as an award-winning staff writer and editor at The Oregonian newspaper. He has served on the boards of a variety of non-profit organizations, including Literary Arts, Friends of Chamber Music and the Oregon Public Affairs Network. He also is a past president of the Harvard Club of Oregon and past treasurer of Literary Arts.
